President Trump Invites Relatives of Attacked National Guard Personnel to the White House

Former President Donald Trump revealed on Sunday that he has invited the relatives of a National Guard member killed last week to attend the White House.

He added that he conversed with her family and they were “devastated”.

Background on the Devastating Event

US army specialist Beckstrom, twenty years old, was fatally shot in a shooting on Wednesday in DC.

Her colleague, Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, remains hospitalized in grave state.

Vigils across West Virginia have taken place in their honor.

White House Invitation

The commander-in-chief said he’s talked about a meeting at the presidential residence for the families of both members of the West Virginia Guard.

“I stated: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a difficult moment, visit the White House. We’re going to recognize Sarah,” the president addressed journalists. “And in the same way with Andrew, whether he recovers or not.”

Public Support

Community members gathered over the weekend at Webster County high school in West Virginia to remember Beckstrom.

Both she and Wolfe had been fulfilling duties with the military unit as part of Trump’s government program to support law enforcement in the capital.

Honoring Beckstrom

“Sarah was the kind of student that instructors hoped for. She carried herself with inner fortitude, a warm expression and a optimistic attitude that inspired people around her,” the principal, the head of her former high school, told the media. “She was caring, considerate and always willing to assist people.”

Service arrangements for Sarah are in the process of planning.

Legal Actions and Government Changes

Law enforcement have indicted a 29-year-old suspect with a charge of first-degree murder and charges of assault with intent to kill while armed.

The tragedy caused the government to suspend asylum processing and temporarily stop providing visas to holders of Afghan passports.

Status of Andrew Wolfe

The airman, a native of Martinsburg, began his service in 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman High, according to the Associated Press.

He remains under medical supervision and is “battling to survive”, the state’s leader Morrisey said on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.

The state’s top lawyer Bondi informed a news show that she aimed to visit Wolfe’s family.

Memory of the Fallen Soldier

Sarah, from Summersville, completed her education from Webster County High in mid-2023 and joined the military shortly after, serving as a MP with distinction, per the West Virginia National Guard.

“She had a lot of compassion and she certainly had fortitude,” Morrisey addressed the crowd at the service. “Though her time ended too soon, she has made an impact that’s going to be remembered always.”
