The Porcine Pardon: Hog Named Six Seven Granted Clemency by Miami Dade County Leader.

Although not quite at the identical stature as sparing festive fowl, but the Miami-Dade County mayor conducted a presidential-style act this week by formally pardoning the life of a swine named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava performed the seasonal stunt at the Cuban-style Latin Cafe 2000 in the core of Miami’s iconic Little Havana neighborhood.

“The swine has done no wrong. Clemency is justified for her. No offenses are on her docket,” declared Levine Cava in a speech with inescapable allusions to the vast quantity of executive clemencies issued since the beginning of a new presidential term.

“Except perhaps for eating half a dozen apples per day,” she went on. “May this pig enjoy a long and happy life away from worry.”

This ceremony, either celebrating or rejecting the area's customary feast of eating roast pork during the holidays, was founded to emulate the annual turkey pardoning at the White House.

The animal, donated by a local firefighter, was given its name from the modern linguistic fad of young people shouting “six seven” – originating from a rap song lyric – often seemingly at random. The trend became so pervasive that a prominent word reference recently declared “six-seven” its annual vocabulary selection.

A Future Secured

This particular pig is now destined to live out its days at a farm sanctuary “far from charcoal and roasting pans”, according to the event’s official press release.

“The annual pig pardon has become one of our favorite ways to open the holiday season,” said Eric Castellanos, in a decidedly positive message.

“It embodies the character of Miami: happy, multicultural, and based in heritage that bring people together. Annually, we are honored to observe heritage and mercy in a way distinctively Miamian.”

Guests enjoyed a plant-based fare of croquettes and cafecito as they toasted Six Seven’s big moment.
