The Reform UK leader Claims Educators of ‘Poisoning Our Kids’ on Race Issues

The political figure stated that educators would initiate walkouts within weeks a success at the polls for his party, charging that they are “harming young minds” by telling students that African-Caribbean youth are oppressed and Caucasian students are perpetrators.

At a gathering for a private US Christian college, Farage outlined his viewpoint on the UK education system, claiming that the “Marxist left” had “taken over schooling”.

“I’m anticipating a teachers’ strike very quickly after securing a victory,” Farage commented in response to questions.

“They are corrupting young minds. They are telling them to feel guilt about their nation. They are telling an eight-year-old black child that he is a victim and a white child of the same age that he is an oppressor. They create division, instead of fostering unity. They promote this negative culture.”

Reacting to Farage’s claims, Daniel Kebede rejected the notion that the education system was controlled by Marxists as “absurd”. Kebede noted that industrial action must relate to teachers’ terms and conditions, and doubted whether Reform would attack these immediately upon entering government.

“The politician has crafted his political career on dog-whistle politics and currently, like Trump, he is lining up teachers and their unions for a conflict,” the union leader said.

“This is highly reckless. Neither I nor our union – advocate such divisive theories as he’s suggesting … Should he become prime minister he would undermine state services, including education … and the outcome would be catastrophic for students and learning.”

The party, which tops surveys by about 10 points, has not set out much detail on a proposed education policy and does not appear to have appointed an education spokesperson.

Nonetheless, Farage’s remarks indicated the party would overhaul the educational framework. He said: “We have got a massive job with education – truly monumental. And, we can’t do it in six months or a year; it requires years, a long-term effort to reform.”

He stated that younger generations are receptive to analytical thought, but older youth were “completely lost”.

Paying tribute to a conservative activist, Farage said: “All I want education to do to teach critical thinking – to instruct people that multiple perspectives exist and you make up your own mind rather than what’s happening now where one is virtuous and one is evil. This is a huge undertaking in the UK and US.”

Reform has previously clashed with the UK’s largest teaching union, after Kebede called the party “far right and racist” and dismissed Farage as “a cheap imitation”.

The politician has charged the union head with being “an avowed radical” … an individual intent that our children should be poisoned through education, their thinking tainted about everything to do with this country” and has argued that the organization seeks to brainwash youth opposed to his party.

Almost one million people work in schools in the UK, with educators comprising half and the others teaching assistants and support staff. The leading teachers’ organization has hundreds of thousands of members.

Countrywide walkouts over educators’ salaries and work environment in 2023 caused widespread disruption in educational institutions and extensive missed instruction for children.

At the US event, the Reform leader also pledged to help spread the online educational material of the institution in the UK. He stated such groups were “part of the fightback”, adding that: “I mean this. I will help garner hundreds of thousands, if not millions of young people to these educational programs. I make that commitment now and I will follow through.”

The college, a small private Christian college, provides complimentary classes. Its website states: “Comprehensive learning is necessary for personal happiness and to maintain the benefits of civil and religious liberty. The college furnishes these beautiful courses for no charge to all who wish to learn.”
